But when exactly is allergy season? The answer to this is: it depends on what you\u2019re allergic to. Below we go over the different seasons and what allergens they bring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring is arguably the time of year the most people experience seasonal allergies. Trees are the biggest culprits behind spring allergies, particularly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Oak<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Birch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cedar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horse chestnut<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poplar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A milder winter can lead to an early thaw and a longer spring allergy season. In addition, tree pollen counts can jump up after a rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>During the summertime, grass pollen is the main driver behind this season\u2019s allergies. If you have summer allergies, we recommend avoiding grass as much as possible and delegating mowing the lawn to someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the hot and humid weather can contribute to the growth of mold, another allergen. Mold is a fungus that lives nearly anywhere, both indoors and outdoors. It particularly thrives in environments like bathrooms, kitchens, basements, compost piles and rotting logs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ragweed begins to grow at the end of summer and continues through the fall, and it is a major allergen for many people. It can be found at Murphy Candler Park in North Brookhaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other plants that can contribute to fall allergies too, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Burning bush<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cocklebur<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lamb\u2019s quarter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pigweed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sagebrush<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mugwort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tumbleweed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Russian thistle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Winter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although not usually associated with allergies, winter can be a time when people suffer from more severe allergies. The difference is these allergens are found indoors. They include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Dust mites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pet dander<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cockroaches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finding Relief from Seasonal Allergies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first line of defense against seasonal allergies is to practice avoidance of known allergens.
