Dr.\nShaw graduated from the University of Florida at Gainesville with a bachelor’s\ndegree in microbiology. She then pursued her medical degree at the University\nof Florida and completed her specialized training in otolaryngology-head and neck\nsurgery at University of Florida’s Shands Hospital and VA Hospital from 1995\nthrough 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr.\nShaw is on staff at Northside Hospital, Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital and\nChildren’s Hospital of Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Individual attention to each patient is a hallmark of Dr. Shaw’s pediatric and adult ENT practice. She explains, “I have to measure my professional accomplishments by the impact I make on each patient one day at a time. This is where I get my greatest satisfaction and why I do what I do. It’s the difference you make in curing a patient you are face to face with, whether it is in the office or the operating room.That’s what makes me look forward to going to work every day, and how I have grown a successful ENT practice\u00a0for 23 years.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Shaw was recognized as a Top Doctor by Atlanta Magazine in 2017, 2018,\u00a02019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. A leader in the medical community, Dr. Shaw\u00a0has also\u00a0served as\u00a0President of the Georgia Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery\u00a0in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She is a fellow of the American Academy of\nOtolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and American Academy of Otolaryngic\nAllergy, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and the\nAtlanta Medical Association. She is a Board of Governors representative for the\nGeorgia Society of Otolaryngology. Dr. Shaw is a past president, previous\nofficer and member of the Atlanta Metro Educational Society of\nOtolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She is currently the Chief of the\nOtolaryngology section at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital and has served in this\ncapacity for the past seven years. She is a supporter of many community\ncharities including St. Joseph’s Mercy Care Clinic and the Mercy Care\nFoundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Shaw hails from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida\nand has been married to Dr. Kurt Briesacher, a cardiac anesthesiologist at\nEmory Saint Joseph’s, for 25 years. They share a love of the outdoors with\ntheir three children and the yellow Labrador Retriever and can be found hiking,\nbiking, running or paddling as often as possible in their free time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
